Can you tell me more about the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (NAPC)?
In 1983, NAPC was formed to provide a forum for commissions to discuss mutual challenges and to serve as the national voice representing the particular needs of local preservation commissions. NAPC’s mission is “helping to build strong local preservation programs and leaders through education, training, and advocacy.”
As a nonprofit, NAPC provides technical support and manages an information network to help local commissions accomplish their preservation objectives. Our established education and training programs, including our biennial FORUM conference and Commission Assistance and Mentoring Program (CAMP®), have provided essential training to thousands of commission members and staff around the country. NAPC also serves as an advocate at the federal, state and local levels of government to promote policies and programs that support preservation commission efforts, thanks in part to collaboration with our partner organizations in Washington, D.C. I am a member of NAPC, how do I receive half-priced registration?
Thank you for your membership! NAPC members will receive a special coupon code to apply at checkout. Please check your inbox for an email entitled Your Coupon Code for NAPC’s Virtual Summer Short Course. NAPC will verify all members who use the coupon code.
I am a member and I never received a coupon code. What should I do next?
First, please check your spam/promotions folder for an email from the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions entitled Your Coupon Code for NAPC’s Virtual Summer Short Course. If you can’t locate the email then feel free to reach out to director@napcommissions.org. We can verify your membership and provide you with the code!
I am part of an organization that has NAPC membership. Can I receive half-priced registration?
Yes! Those affiliated with an organization level membership are eligible to receive all NAPC membership perks, including half-priced registration to the Virtual Summer Short Course. Learn more about organization level memberships here.
I’d like to register multiple members from my organization and receive a single invoice for the total. Is that possible?

Continuing Education Credit
Do you offer AIA/AICP credit?
Yes! This online event qualifies for a total of 9 AIA and AICP credits. Check the official website for more details on CE credits for each session.
How do I report my attendance?
If you are an AIA member, we will ask that you provide your name and AIA member number in the Public Chat during each live session you attend. We will also have a record of the duration of your attendance in our webinar platform. We will report your attendance within 10 business days. If you are an AICP member, you are responsible for self-reporting. We will share the APA event ID during each session and we will have a record of your attendance in our webinar platform.
How does it work if I’m seeking AIA or AICP credit for a session I could only view on-demand?
If you are an AIA member, we will send you a brief quiz to ensure you watched the recording of the session and we will also have a record of the duration you watched the recording in our webinar platform. We will send out the quiz with the recording. Once you complete the quiz, we will report your attendance and fulfill any request for a Certificate of Completion within 10 business days. Please submit a Certificate of Completion and Credits Request here.
I am not an AIA or AICP member but I do want a Certificate of Completion. How do I get one?
If you attend the live webinar, you will automatically receive a Certificate of Completion to your inbox at the end of each session. Please be sure to check your spam/promotions folder if you do not see it. If you view the session on-demand, you will automatically receive a Certificate of Completion to your inbox 30 minutes after fully completing the recording.
Do you permit groups to watch the Virtual Summer Short Course together?
Unfortunately, we do not permit this. If you would like to attend the Virtual Summer Short Course, you will need to register as an individual and join each session with the unique URL provided to you. This also helps us to keep an accurate record of attendance.
Session Recordings and Presentation Slides
How do we access the session recordings to enjoy them on-demand?
If you are registered for the Virtual Summer Short Course, you will automatically receive an email with a link to each session recording once it is ready. This email will also include the full transcript of the session, including the Chat and Q&A. It will also include presentation slides and other helpful resources shared during the session. You can also find the recordings by visiting the official website.
How long will the recordings be available?
You will have access to the recordings for 90 days.
Will we have access to the presentation slides and other resources shared during the session?
Yes! As long as you registered, you can visit the official website and click on each session then scroll to the bottom of the page to find the presentation slides and other helpful resources.
Refund Policy
Can I get a refund for my registration?
We do not provide refunds for this event since it can be enjoyed live or on-demand at your leisure.
In the event that you did not click "Apply" when entering a special member coupon code and paid the full price for registration, NAPC will issue a partial refund minus the processing fee (2.9 % + .30 cents).
If you receive a scholarship to attend the Virtual Summer Short Course but have already paid for registration, NAPC will issue a refund minus the processing fee (2.9 % + .30 cents).
Scholarship Opportunities
Are there scholarship opportunities available to attend the Virtual Summer Short Course?
NAPC does not have any scholarship opportunities at this time, however, some State Historic Preservation Offices may be offering CLG scholarships for the Virtual Summer Short Course. Check with your State CLG Coordinator to see if they are one of them!
